GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS
Make sure the gutter has proper pitch. We recommend 1 inch (2.5cm) per 30 feet (9.1 m) of gutter.
Clean and make any necessary repairs on gutters and downspouts. Remove any strainers and screening from gutters and downspouts. Make sure the gutter has proper pitch of 1 inch (2.5 cm) per 30 foot (9.1 m) of gutter minimum and minimum of 2-3/4 inch (8.0 cm) drop outlet for a 2x3 (5.1x7.6 cm) downspout.
Slide the clip on the cover from the ends to a distance of 4 to 6 inches (10.2 to 15.2 cm) from the ends of the cover. Slide cover under the first row of shingles. Once in place screw (provided) clip (provided) to top of gutter so there is about a 1/8 inch (0.3 cm) to 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) gap between the cover and the gutter.
Repeat this process on remaining pieces interlocking cover together.

ENDS OF GUTTER
At the end of the gutter it is important to bend cover down into the gutter on the inside of the end cap, leaving no openings. This will keep birds and debris from getting into the gutter.
Trimming the cover will be necessary.

OUTSIDE CORNERS

Determine the angle of the corner and cut cover to match, allowing 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) overlap of the covers, and screw together.

INSIDE CORNERS AND ROOF VALLEYS

Inside corners and all valleys need a deflector to insure no water run off. The deflector (see Inside Corner diagram below) is the best way of installing an inside corner. Determine the angle of the corner and cut cover sections to match allowing 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) overlap of the cover. Cut the deflector out of a piece of cover, bend into an L, trim and bend to fit angle of the corner. Seal between deflector and cover and screw in place.
Note: Place clips so deflector extends past clips (see Inside Corner diagram below)

Hint: Screen may be used in place of deflector for inside corners; however, it is recommended to use the deflector to insure proper water flow.

VERY STEEP OR FLAT ROOFS
Depending on the gutter installation the cover may need to be bent up or down where the cover meets the roof for a better fit and to allow the shingles to lay flat. The pitch of the roof will not affect the ability of how Hallett Gutter Cover® will work.

ANNUAL CHECK
To avoid run over or other problems, an annual check of the gutter is suggested to see that everything is working properly.
